Questions about AAS Peer Note-Taking?

How do I upload my notes?
  • Visit the AAS student portal
  • Log in with your my.torontomu.ca credentials
  • Click on “Courses/Notes” and upload your course notes.

Which courses require peer note-takers?
Lecture based weekly courses where the lecture content is NOT shared online because we do not require peer note-takers for virtual courses.

Please Note: we can’t guarantee payment to peer note-takers for courses where peer note-takers are not required. If you are unsure whether the course you have signed up for requires a peer note-taker, please email us at peernotes@torontomu.ca

Do I need to take notes on the readings?
No. Students are only responsible for capturing information shared during the lecture.

Can I add notes to a PowerPoint slide?
Yes, as long as the notes that you are adding to professor slides are detailed and thorough. You cannot simply upload the professor slides as they are.

How detailed do the notes need to be?
Peer notes must capture the information provided in class that is not already available to students via the course D2L. Notes should convey key concepts, ideas, class discussions and important assignment and exam deadlines communicated each week during class.

Are handwritten notes okay?
Yes, just make sure your writing is legible and the pictures you’re uploading of your notes are clear and easy to decipher.

If you are selected late, and need to go back to upload missing notes what is the expected timeframe to do this?
Please upload the missing notes from weeks prior as soon as you can.

What if I miss a class?
If you miss a class, please reach out to another student or the Instructor to provide the information that you missed.

What if I am selected as a peer note taker and have already missed several classes?
If you miss a class (or more), we ask that you reach out to another student or the Instructor to provide the information that you missed.

If you find that you cannot meet the expectations of being a peer note-taker, you can remove yourself from our peer note-taking program at any point.

  • Visit the AAS student portal
  • Log in with your my.torontomu credentials
  • Click on “Courses/Notes”
  • Under the courses section, there is a drop-down list for "I am no longer available to take notes for the following courses". Please remove the courses from here. This will update our system appropriately.
